Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES)

From September 2012, the Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES) is holding the Change Foundation in Solution Focused Approach course with Change Birmingham Brief Therapy as the awarding body.

This is a BACP endorsed course that gives 12 CPD hours

This is a 6 week course of one 2-hour session per week, that is for people who want to learn the Solution Focused approach with the aim to apply the skills in their work and for their own personal development. This course can also be used as the first unit of the Change Certificate in Solution Focused Approach

Length of Course: 6 weeks of 1 session per week.

Course Aims
To introduce participants to the use of some basic SF skills in everyday life and work.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course you should be able to:
– understand the basic history, philosophy and uses of the
model
-explain the assumptions of the model
-understand the principles of the model
-use the essential SF techniques

Who is the Course for?
Anyone wishing to gain a basic understanding of SF skills with a view to progressing to the Change Certificate in Solution Focused Approach. The course would also be useful for anyone who would like to develop the SF skills within their work role or in a personal capacity. It can complement other programmes e.g. health and social care, learning and development, voluntary and community work. Therefore, it is for counsellors, GP’s, mental health workers, teachers, social workers, managers, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, coaches, youth workers, learning mentors etc.

Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?
You need to be able to
-Reflect on your professional- and self-development
-Minimum of level 2 literacy skill.

Will I gain any qualifications?
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Change Foundation in Solution Focused Practice certificate (with 12 CPD hours endorsed by BACP).

How will I learn?
Role play activities, skills practice groups, experiential exercises, reflection, presentations, group discussion, video and audio media etc.

What could this course lead to?
Change Certificate in Solution Focused Practice.
